OU – News Cloud

OU News Cloud is a web application for searching for Guardian News articles.

We were asked by the Open University to produce a tool for finding news stories about social care and parenting in a way that would highlight how these stories are mediated.

Like our previous NewsCloud project we are using the API provided by the Guardian Open Platform. You can search for news articles across the different sections of the Guardian over time. These stories are then visualised in three different ways. The Guardian Tags shows how many articles fall under tags created by the editorial team at the paper. The Title Tags looks for the words used in the article headline and shows the most commonly occuring words. The Timeline tab shows how the search term appears in articles over time.
